Supporters were seen celebrating as Mohamed Salah made his return to Liverpool during Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward started as a substitute but entered the game in the 26th minute due to an injury to defender Joe Gomez.
This marked his first appearance in a Reds squad since he expressed feeling “thrown under the bus” by the club after last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Leeds.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot named only eight substitutes instead of the usual nine for the match.
Salah did not travel to Italy for the team’s 1-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.
He is set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
With Saudi Pro League clubs showing interest in signing Salah when the transfer window reopens next month, this could potentially be his last game for Liverpool.
Saudi clubs have been pursuing Salah for some time, and Liverpool turned down a £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023.
He still has 18 months remaining on the contract he signed in April.

Salah is Liverpool’s third all-time leading goalscorer, with 250 goals in 421 appearances, but he has not started for the team in five consecutive matches.
Last weekend, Salah mentioned that he had invited his family to the Brighton game, stating, “I will be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations. I don’t know what will happen while I’m there.”
Earlier in the week, Slot remarked, “I have no clue” whether Salah had played his last game for the club.
However, following positive discussions during the week, Salah was included in the squad to face Brighton.
Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, is expected to speak with the club while Salah is on international duty at Afcon.
