Reality TV star Liquorose has revealed a deeply emotional setback she experienced during her first attempt to join the Big Brother Naija reality show, explaining how she was removed from the 2020 live launch lineup just minutes before stepping on stage.
Speaking on a podcast with VJ Adams, Liquorose said she had successfully passed all stages of the audition, had been fully prepped with makeup and wardrobe, and was already positioned backstage when organisers abruptly informed her that she would no longer be entering the house.
“I was ready. Everything was set. Then someone just walked up to me and said, ‘You’re not going in anymore,’” she recalled, adding that the incident left her devastated and questioning her dream of participating in the show.

Liquorose later discovered, along with fellow housemate Jaypaul, that they had tested positive for COVID-19, the reason behind their sudden removal from the lineup.
The disappointment, she said, affected her so deeply that she almost skipped auditions for the 2021 edition. With encouragement from a friend, she reapplied and eventually discovered her acceptance email hidden in her spam folder.
Liquorose returned stronger the following year and competed in the 2021 season, ultimately finishing as the runner-up to Whitemoney.
