In what could be described as a colourful and impressive ceremony in Bauchi on Sunday, July 17, 2022, the Emir of Jama’are, Alhaji Nuhu Wabi III, turbaned the widow of the former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, late Abba Kyari, as the first “Gimbiya” (Princess) of Jama’are, Emirate in Bauchi State.
The Emir in his remarks in his Palace in Jama’are LGA in Bauchi during the ceremony said, that Abba Kyari’s Widow, Hauwa Kulu nee Gidado, is a true daughter of Jama’are town, who has contributed immensely over the years to the development of the entire Emirates.
Alhaji Nuhu Wabi III, then went further to enumerate the traditional functions of a “Gimbiya” (Princess) in the Emirates to be among other roles as the highly respected daughter of the Emir, who acts as the liaison between the Emir and the large majority of the women folks in and outside the emirates, who do not have direct access in the affairs in the Emirates Council. Stressing that with the installation of Mrs Kyari as Gimbiya, the women in the Emirates now have a voice that can now be heard loud and clear.
Concluding, the Emir expressed satisfaction that he now has a very strong voice as a real daughter of the Emirate in his council.
The Emir enumerated some of the qualities, the council found in the recipient, to be her amiable disposition towards others especially the less privileged. Her concern about the welfare and well-being of the people around her and her passion for the development of the Emirates.
The Emir stressed, “Hajiya Hauwa Kulu’s is being turbaned today, because, she possesses all the three major qualities any recipient must have before he or she could be turbaned in our Emirate. He listed these qualities to include; Excellence in her chosen field of endeavour, Meaningful contributions to the development of our Emirate and She is from a Royal Family, which is acceptable to all.
