The Lagos State Government has issued a warning to all unapproved and unregistered private schools, urging them to register with the office of education quality assurance or face sanctions.
This directive, announced by the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, aims to ensure that all education institutions below the tertiary level meet required standards and provide quality education to students.
The state government emphasized that registration is mandatory for all private schools, with a deadline set for January 13, 2025, adding that failure to comply will result in consequences.

“Registered schools will benefit from government recognition and interventions, as well as access to technical and financial support. They will also stay updated on emerging policies from both Lagos State and the federal government.
“The rise in the number of private schools in Lagos has highlighted the need for proper registration and documentation to facilitate effective monitoring. The Lagos State Government remains committed to ensuring that all learners receive a quality education.
“Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education through is committed to ensuring that all learners receive quality education, and we will not hesitate to take action against any institution that fails to register,” the commissioner said.
