The Lagos State Government has banned night construction work across the state.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, announced this decision in a recent statement. The goal of this new Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, is to protect the environment, prevent building collapses, and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Lagos.
According to him, from now on, construction activities are only allowed to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., from Monday to Saturday.
Dr. Olumide emphasized the importance of following these new hours strictly. He mentioned that while the government understands that building projects can be complex and dynamic, any requests to work outside of these hours must be made formally and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Concessions may be granted, but only after careful consideration.

Likewise, Mrs. Ifeoma Uche, a resident of Idimu, welcomed the move, stating that many construction sites work through the night, causing noise disturbances for everyone. She believes this new regulation will bring more order to the community.
