The Lagos State Government has announced the postponement of the scheduled shutdown of the PWD rail crossing to May 14, 2025, to allow for more engagement with all stakeholders.

This was announced on Sunday, by a representative from the Public Affairs Separtment of the Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola.

She emphasized that the postponement aims to provide drivers, commuters, and local residents with ample time to modify their travel plans in the light of the impending closure.

“We understand that road closures can create substantial inconveniences for daily commuters, and it is our priority to alleviate these challenges as much as possible,” Ogunlola stated.

She reassured residents that the alternative routes previously communicated to the public will remain available and unchanged during the closure period, ensuring a smoother transition.

“Motorists are strongly encouraged to adhere to traffic signs and the guidance provided by law enforcement officers who will be stationed at critical points along the detours.

“Their presence is aimed at facilitating safe and efficient rerouting during the maintenance work,” the statement said.

She urged residents to exercise patience and cooperation as the temporary closure is essential for vital maintenance work aimed at enhancing the railway system’s infrastructure.

According to her, the improvements are critical for ensuring the safety and reliability of both train services and vehicular traffic in the vicinity.

“As the new closure date approaches, residents are advised to stay informed by regularly checking official government channels for updates and real-time traffic information.

“This proactive approach will help minimize disruption and ensure that everyone can adjust their travel accordingly,” she said.
