The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed four new principal officers following the impeachment of former Speaker, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa on allegations of gross misconduct, which was supported by 32 of the 40 –member House.
The new Speaker, Mrs. Mojisola Meranda of the APC/Apapa 1 State Constituency, announced these changes during plenary on Friday.
In a related development, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Lekan Onafeko, has been suspended over accusations of financial impropriety,
Also, all standing committees established by Obasa have been dissolved.

“The House has named Mr. Temitope Adewale (APC-Ifako-Ijaiye 1), as the new majority leader, while Mr. Adedamola Kasunmu (APC- Ikeja 1) is the new deputy majority leader.
“This House has also named the Chief Whip, Mr. Setonji David (APC-Badagry 2), while the Deputy Chief Whip is now Mr. Babatunde Saani (APC-Kosofe 2),” she said.
Before Obasa’s impeachment, Mr. Mojeed Adams was the majority leader, while Adedamola Kasunmu was the deputy leader.
