At the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Faith Kipyegon of Kenya made history by storming to her fourth world 1500m title, extending her incredible streak of dominance in the event.
The 31-year-old now joins retired men’s world record holder Hicham El Guerrouj as the only athletes to have won four 1500m titles at the championships.
This impressive victory comes after Kipyegon’s third consecutive Olympic triumph last year and her third straight world gold.
From the start of the race, she controlled the pace and pulled away from her rivals on the final lap.

Kipyegon has not only been unbeaten in the past five global finals, but she hasn’t lost a race over the distance for over four years.
In a true display of her dominance, Kipyegon’s fellow Kenyan, Dorcus Ewoi, finished in second place.
With her arms outstretched and a smile on her face, Kipyegon celebrated her eighth global gold, putting her on par with track and field greats like Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Tirunesh Dibaba.
In the upcoming days, Kipyegon will have her sights set on adding a second world double in the 5,000m to her already impressive resume.
