The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to officially welcome 57 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) on September 29.
This ceremony marks the start of the 2025/2026 legal year for the Supreme Court.
Director of Information and Public Relations at the Supreme Court, Festus Ajande disclosed that during the special session, the chief justice will give a speech reviewing the work of the Supreme Court and the Nigerian legal system over the past year.

Other key figures in the legal community, including the minister of justice, the head of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the president of the Nigerian Bar Association, will also speak about the state of the justice system.
It’s worth noting that the Supreme Court took a break for its annual vacation after a successful legal year, which ended on July 21, 2025.
The events planned for the new legal year will begin at 10:00 am.
