Governor Agbu Kefas has pledged to deploy security personnel to Chanchanji Ward in Takum local government council of Taraba State to enable farmers return safely to their homes and farmlands, while also providing relief materials for displaced residents. This was made known by his Special Assistant on Digital Economy and State Coordinator of the Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, Justin Aondoaseer Tyopuusu.

The governor’s decision, as disclosed by Tyopuusu, will go a long way to restore confidence among residents and reassured them of government support.

Tyopuusu, in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Jalingo, commended the governor for what he described as a courageous and compassionate visit to Chanchanji Ward in Takum local government council following four months of persistent security challenges that have displaced several families and disrupted livelihoods.

He recalled that governor Kefas recently visited the affected community alongside his Benue State counterpart, Hyacinth Alia, where they met with internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were forced to flee their homes due to repeated attacks in the area.

According to Tyopuusu, the visit by the two governors was not merely symbolic but demonstrated leadership, solidarity and inter-state cooperation in tackling insecurity along the borders of Taraba and Benue states.

He particularly praised the governors for agreeing to establish a joint peace committee made up of representatives from both states to work toward lasting security solutions.

“This collaborative approach reflects maturity in leadership and a clear understanding that sustainable peace requires dialogue, coordination and shared responsibility,” Tyopuusu said.

He noted that in times of crisis, leadership must remain visible and decisive, adding that the governor’s renewed security assurances, cross-border cooperation and humanitarian commitments represent a critical step toward stabilising affected communities and rebuilding public trust.

Tyopuusu also applauded the governor on the successful conduct of the ruling party’s ward, local government and state congresses across Taraba State, describing the process as peaceful and orderly.

He specifically congratulated the newly elected State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, and the State Women Leader, Margaret Mchivga, who hails from Chanchanji Ward, noting that their emergence signals renewed direction and stronger grassroots mobilisation for the party.

Tyopuusu urged stakeholders across the region to support the peace-building efforts of the two governors and work collectively toward sustainable security, development and political stability in Taraba and Benue states.
