Abuja-based comedian and show host, MC Onestar, has highlighted the powerful influence of entertainment on society, saying the creative industry does far more than provide humour; it shapes emotions, culture and social interaction in meaningful ways.
Speaking ahead of his upcoming year-end comedy event, “Keep Laughing Till Christmas,” Onestar said entertainment remains a major driver of social connection and collective experience.
According to him, the first and most critical element of impactful entertainment is engagement, the ability to capture and sustain attention, whether through movies, music, live shows, or digital content.
He listed enjoyment as the second core component, noting that audiences should leave with positive feelings such as excitement, inspiration or relief. “At its heart, entertainment ought to make people feel good,” he said.
Onestar identified creativity as the third pillar, describing originality as essential to memorable storytelling. “It’s the unique perspectives, the fresh concepts, the compelling visuals or the standout performances that people remember,” he explained.
He added that great entertainment fosters connection with characters, with other people, or with one’s emotions, when the content resonates deeply.
The comedian also emphasised the value of escape, saying entertainment offers a temporary break from life’s pressures. “There’s stress everywhere. Entertainment gives people space to breathe, laugh, and let go,” he said.

He further noted that quality, through strong writing, acting, production and design — ultimately determines how lasting and meaningful the experience will be.
Finally, Onestar highlighted relevance, stressing that audiences engage more strongly with content that reflects real issues, cultural conversations or personal realities.
MC Onestar, who is preparing to host what he describes as an “unforgettable” December show, said entertainment “doesn’t end on stage. It influences how we feel, how we relate and even how we understand the world around us.”
The comedian will headline the “Keep Laughing Till Christmas” event scheduled for December 7, 2025, at Liberty Holdings Hotel, Arab Road, Kubwa, in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
Set to kick off at 7 p.m., the show will feature a roster of Abuja-based comedians, dancers, DJs and hypemen, and is expected to be one of the city’s biggest pre-Christmas entertainment nights.
Other performers include Fresh of Abuja, Mc Erickymoney, Mc Biglaugh, Mc Paparazi, Mc Kpako, Mc Kingsboy, Spectacle Beat, Vowhell, King Panto, Mc Ororo, Super Crown, Mc BB, Godpassdem, and several others.
Dance groups such as 911 Dancer, Marvelous Dancer, Igbo Boy and D Shield Dancers are also billed to perform, while hypemen O.G and Fresh of Abuja will keep the energy high. DJs Pablo and Pee will handle the music for the evening.
MC Onestar said the event aims to set the festive mood in the Federal Capital Territory.
“Keep Laughing Till Christmas will deliver a rich blend of comedy, music and dance to get Abuja into full celebration mode ahead of the holidays,” he said.
