The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has announced plans to create a new specialized unit dedicated to emergency and rescue operations across the state, marking a significant step in improving public safety and disaster response.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the management of the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, the Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. Faisal Kabir, said the planned unit would be responsible for rapid interventions during fire outbreaks, road accidents, and other emergencies within the Kano metropolis. The visit, led by DSF Suleiman A. Adam, took place at the KAROTA headquarters on Club Road, Kano.
KAROTA spokesperson, Abubakar Ibrahim, in a statement on Friday, said the initiative aims to strengthen coordination among emergency agencies while ensuring faster rescue operations during critical incidents. Kabir noted that the unit will operate in partnership with the Federal Fire Service and other stakeholders to improve overall emergency preparedness in the state.
“We appreciate the Federal Fire Service for its commitment to protecting lives and property,” Kabir stated. “KAROTA is now ready to complement those efforts by setting up a dedicated emergency response unit that will enhance inter-agency coordination and timely intervention whenever emergencies occur.”
