Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) have appointed a female referee, Bouchra Karboubi, to officiate the final of this year’s Throne Cup.
This is the first in the history of Moroccan football that a woman would be selected to officiate a football final.
Karboubi, who will be assisted by a fellow female assistant referee, Fatiha Jermoumi, is a CAF and FIFA certified referee.
Interestingly, the female referee, also a police officer, is the first of her gender to have officiated in the Moroccan Premier League. She has also officiated in various continental tournaments.

The Throne Cup final fixed at Grand Stade d’Agadir, today, Saturday, May 14, 2022, is between AS FAR and Moghreb Tetouan.
Karboubi, despite playing active roles in the recently concluded 2021 TotalEnergies AFCON in Cameroon, is a notable figure in the women’s football competitions.
Following the above, the Moroccan female referee was selected as part of the VAR team in the AFCON final between Egypt and Senegal.
