The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has officially welcomed its new Commandant, Mr. Bala Bawa-Bodinga
The transition was announced in a statement by the NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, on Tuesday in Kano.
Bawa-Bodinga takes over from Shafiu Abdulmumini, who has retired after many years of dedicated service.
The statement highlighted that Bawa-Bodinga is known for being hardworking, skilled, and committed to law enforcement.
Before his deployment to Kano, he served as the NSCDC commandant in Jigawa State and has held several important positions, including being the chief security officer for two educational organisations and managing security for pilgrims in Abuja.

He has also led teams focused on preventing vandalism and protecting essential national assets in different states.
Bawa-Bodinga is originally from Bodinga Local Government Area in Sokoto State and was born on February 7, 1973.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Hausa Language from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has completed various professional training courses both in Nigeria and abroad, including a certificate in intelligence operations.
Upon taking office, the new commandant ordered round-the-clock patrols and increased monitoring of critical national assets and infrastructure throughout the state to ensure safety and security.
