The Kano Pillars football club has signed a one-year sponsorship deal with the Hausa service of Radio France International (RFI).
General Manager of the Club, Ahmed Musa, and the Director and Chief Coordinator of RFI Hausa in Nigeria, Joseph Penny, signed the memorandum of understanding on Thursday at the conference room of the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, making the media outlet the club’s official partner.
Speaking during the event, Musa described the development as historic, considering the massive fan base of the club not just in Kano or Nigeria, but across the African continent.
He said with a sponsorship deal as this, it would remain historic and a moral booster for the players and the team.

“RFI is offering far more than we expected. They are contributing N5 million in cash, along with a total support package worth around N100 million.”
In his remarks, the RFI Chief Coordinator said the partnership aligns with the organisatio’s commitment to promoting sports and community engagement across Nigeria and beyond.
He said the football club under the leadership of the football legend, Ahmed Musa, will help propel the club to greater heights, hence the need to support his visionary leadership.
“It is RFI’s first football sponsorship in history and includes full sponsorship of new kits, provision of state-of-the-art media equipment for club communications, and training for Kano Pillars’ media team in professional video production, along with media publishing on RFI Hausa platforms,” he stated.
It would be recalled that Musa had pledged to restore the club’s glory, with strategies such as seeking for sponsorship and reducing dependency on government to make it successful.
