The Kano State Judicial Service Commission has approved a series of disciplinary actions against judicial officers and staff found guilty of misconduct, corruption, and unethical behaviour.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Spokesman of the Kano State Judiciary, Baba Jibo, the decisions were taken at the Commission’s 86th meeting held on October 30, 2025, following investigations by the Judiciary Public Complaints Committee (JPCC).

Among those sanctioned was Isa Wudilawa, a Principal Registrar at the Magistrate Court, Zungeru Complex, who was demoted from Grade Level 12 to Grade Level 10 for diverting official funds into his personal account, contrary to financial regulations and public service ethics.

Similarly, Alkali Ibrahim Usman, Presiding Judge of Bebeji Shari’a Court, was issued a strong warning and had his promotion deferred for one year for executing a judgment before the expiration of the statutory appeal period.

The Commission also demoted and strongly warned Alkali Shamsu Maul’ainaini of the Upper Shari’a Court, Durbunde, for financial misconduct, removing court records, and violating judicial circulars.

Ibrahim Salim, Clerk of the Upper Shari’a Court, Rijiyar Lemo, was dismissed from service for forgery, falsification of court records, and demanding bribes from litigants.

The Commission, however, commended Alkali Ali Danzaki, Presiding Judge of the same court, for his integrity and courage in exposing the clerk’s misconduct, describing his action as exemplary and worthy of emulation.

In a separate case, retired Judge Alkali Munzali Tanko, formerly of the Upper Shari’a Court Post Office, was condemned for conducting judicial proceedings nine days after retirement, an act the Commission called shameful and damaging to the image of the judiciary.

Other officers sanctioned include Magistrate Halima A. B. Wali, who received a strong warning for procedural lapses, and His Worship Abdul’aziz M. Habib, who was placed on half salary for three months and cautioned for disregarding official circulars.
