Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off a massive youth empowerment programme with over ₦800 million disbursed to young entrepreneurs across the state.
Speaking at the launch, Governor Yusuf revealed that 5,384 beneficiaries were each given ₦150,000, amounting to a total of ₦800,700,000. He explained that the initiative is designed to tackle unemployment head-on by helping young men and women start and expand businesses, thereby boosting economic growth in the state.

The governor described the scheme as an investment in the future of Kano’s youths, stressing that it is not a mere handout but a deliberate effort to transform the economic landscape. “This programme is about empowering our young people to take charge of their destinies, create wealth, and contribute to the progress of our society,” he declared.
He urged beneficiaries to put the funds to productive use, warning against frivolous spending, while assuring those who were not captured in the first batch that a second tranche of disbursements will follow soon.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s determination to pursue policies that empower young people and create sustainable livelihoods, describing youth development as the cornerstone of Kano’s long-term prosperity.
