The Kano State Government has debunked a recent allegation of financial diversion to tune N6.5 billion from the state treasury against the Governor’s Director General of Protocol, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, saying it is politically motivated.
According to a statement issued by the Government House Director of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature, the report is a deliberate act of political blackmail, adding that it was a fictional creation aimed at discrediting the current administration.
He also confirmed that the case is currently before a High Court, and is committed to allowing legal processes to proceed without interference.
He explained that the protocol directorate’s legitimate functions, includes logistics, accommodation, and managing official visits, noting that all financial transactions follow proper budgetary procedures with designated codes under the state’s fiscal policy.
“Expectedly, over 95 percent of the responsibility of the Directorate of Protocol involves large volumes of financial transactions and more often than not, settles liabilities incurred on the state at the instance of His Excellency.

“While the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will remain focused on governance and maintain its position on financial prudence, accountability, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, the government will not sacrifice the integrity of its aides to deliberate acts of political blackmail being orchestrated by unpatriotic elements of society.
“The government is also not in doubt of the credibility of the Director General, Directorate of Protocol, Government House, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo,” Bature highlighted in the statement.
The statement also made references to the previous administration’s spending patterns and corruption allegations, while they are trying to smear and distract the current government from achieving its campaign promises through petitions such as this.
While the government welcomed constructive criticism, it warned against spreading misinformation, threatening legal action against individuals or groups behind fabricated allegations,
