Corps Commander Idris Mohammed Lawal has assumed duty as the new sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS1.2 Kano Sector Command.
Spokesperson of the command, Abdullahi Labaran in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday noted that Lawal officially took over leadership of the command on Tuesday, October 8, 2025.
According to him, Lawal’s deployment follows the retirement of the former Sector Commander, Corps Commander M. B. Bature, who was commended for his dedicated and distinguished service to the Corps.

Before his posting to Kano, Lawal served as the Zonal Head of Operations at the FRSC Zone One Headquarters, Kaduna (RS1HQ), where he played a key role in coordinating traffic management and operational efficiency across the zone. His vast experience and leadership skills are expected to boost ongoing efforts toward safer road environments in Kano State.
The spokesperson further quoted the new Sector Commander to have expressed gratitude to the Corps Marshal and FRSC Management for the confidence reposed in him while addressing the command on his assumption to office. He pledged full commitment to advancing the Corps’ vision of eradicating road traffic crashes and improving road safety.
Lawal also called for collective responsibility, discipline, and teamwork among officers and marshals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to sustain safety initiatives in the state.
