Kano State authorities have carried out a sweeping night-time interception that led to the confiscation of 4,920 bottles of beer being transported into the city. Operatives of the Kano State Road Traffic Agency impounded three trucks loaded with alcoholic drinks during a coordinated patrol across major routes in the metropolis.

KAROTA Managing Director, Faisal Mahmud, confirmed the seizure in a statement released through the agency’s public relations office. He said the trucks were found carrying 410 cartons of beer intended for distribution at various locations within the city. He explained that the interception aligned with the agency’s duty to monitor and report suspicious activity, particularly the movement of prohibited goods.

Mahmud added that KAROTA would continue to intensify its surveillance efforts to prevent the circulation of intoxicants considered hazardous to public health. Following the seizure, the trucks and their contents were transferred to the Kano State Hisbah Board for further action.

The Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, praised the alertness of KAROTA personnel and assured the public that the confiscated items would undergo due process before they are destroyed. His remarks were delivered by the Head of the Intoxicants Unit, Chief Superintendent Sani Nasidi. Nasidi also affirmed that Hisbah would keep working with KAROTA to curb the movement of prohibited substances into the state.
