Communities in Bagwai/ Shanono Federal Constituency under the umbrella body of Faruruwa Community and Environs Security Committee has called on both the federal and state governments to as a matter of urgency come to their aid as a result of incessant bandit attacks that has left many dead, others injured and cattle rustled.
Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Yahaya Bagobiri, made the call on Thursday, while briefing newsmen on the happenings in the affected communities.
According to him, the communities which include Faruruwa Town, Gorin Dutse, Kuraku, Tsaure villages in Shanono Local Goveenment Area and Yanganau in Tsanyawa Local Goveenment Area have been under attacks since 2002.
He alleged that the bandits come in from Katsina State to invade and attack residents and cross back to their state to enjoy freedom.
He said the invaders sometimes trooped in numbers on about 50 motorcycles carrying about three people each with sophisticated weapons, overwhelming the numbers of the joint security task force who are not enough to cover the areas.
Bagobiri added that so far, a total of 1600 cattles have been rustled, with about eight people killed, and six others injured with gun shots, hinting that people in villages like Abuja Central have also deserted their homes.
He said despite several reports to the appropriate authorities, there hasn’t been any positive result.

“These bandits used to come sometime in the evening, sometime in the morning, sometime in the night. So, anytime they feel they can come to that area and do what they do and go away,” he stated.
He therefore urged both the federal and state governments to as a matter of urgency to come to their aid to mobilise security forces in order to restore peace and normalcy.
“We are here to submit our complaint to the federal government and state government so that they should come to our aid and assist us of what is happening.
“President Bola Tinubu, Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, should quickly come to our aid and assist us to join hands with security agencies, especially army and police to restore normalcy in this areas,” he appealed.
