The Kano State government has assured residents and visitors of adequate security throughout the upcoming Kano Cultural Festival, tagged: ‘KANFEST 2025’, scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 25, and end on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, gave the assurance during a press briefing on Friday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and successful celebration.
Gwarzo stated that all necessary measures had been taken to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the festival.
“We have taken measures to ensure the security of lives and property. Kano remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, and we intend to maintain that reputation throughout the festival period,” he said.
The deputy governor added that several dignitaries, including representatives from foreign embassies, cultural organizations, and non-governmental bodies, are expected to participate in the event, which aims to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage.

He explained that the festival, aimed at reviving and promoting Kano’s traditional values, where it would highlight the people’s arts, crafts, cuisine, fashion, and historical heritage.
“Culture defines who we are as a people. Through this festival, we want to reconnect our youths with their roots and project Kano as a cultural capital and creative hub in Nigeria and West Africa,” he said.
Gwarzo further noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Yusuf’s vision of using culture as a tool for economic growth, tourism promotion, and youth empowerment.
He called on the media, private sector, and the general public to support the event, assuring that the government had put all logistics in place for a smooth and memorable festival.
