The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 state appropriation bill, increasing the budget by N170, 595 billion, as against the N549, 160, 417, 663.00 presented by the state governor and bringing the projected expenditure to N719, 755, 417, 663.00 billion .
The bill was passed after a rowdy session, during Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore.
The speaker who announced the passage of the bill said the recurrent expenditure stands at N262, 670, 660, 562.68 billion, representing 36 percent of the budget while the capital expenditure stands at N457, 084, 757, 200.32, representing 64 percent.

Throwing more light on why the budget was increased in a chat with journalists shortly after the session, the House Majority Leader, Lawan Husseini said, the increase was neccistated following a public hearing on the budget, noting that some needs which the government didn’t capture were included by the House.
He added that the revenue of the state is expected to come from the internally generated revenue and receipts from the federation accounts.
Governor Abba Yusuf had on November 8, 2024, presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill of N549, 160, 417, 663.00 to the state House of Assembly for approval.
He tagged the budget: “Budget of hope, human capital and economic development.”
