The Kano State Executive Council has approved N1,006,000,000 for the conduct of another round of mass weddings (Auren Zaurawa da ‘Yan Mata) across the state, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to promoting moral values, family stability, and social welfare.
The approval was one of the major highlights of the 32nd State Executive Council meeting held on Friday, October 3, 2025, and presided over by Governor Abba Yusuf at the Council Chamber, Kwankwasiyya City.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Home Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, and made available to journalists on Sunday, the council approved a total of N45.6 billion for the execution of key developmental projects spanning education, health, infrastructure, environment, and religious affairs.
A breakdown of the approved funds showed that the works and infrastructure sector received the largest allocation of N32.5 billion, covering major road projects, drainage construction, solar streetlights installation, and renovation of key public facilities, including the Kano Central Mosque and Sani Abacha Stadium.

The education sector got N7.7 billion for rehabilitation of technical and secondary schools, boarding school feeding, and renovation of the Audu Bako College of Agriculture, while N802 million was set aside for the procurement of medical equipment and upgrading of health facilities.
Other approvals include N796 million for the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch motorcycles, N1.1 billion for energy and diesel supply in the water sector, and N430 million for youth and sports development.
The commissioner also noted that the meeting also witnessed the receipt of multiple awards for Gov. Yusuf in recognition of his leadership and contributions to education, cooperative development, and good governance as well as the swearing-in of two new commissioners, Abdulkarim Maude, SAN, as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and Dr. Aliyu Isah, Commissioner for Livestock Development.
He also reaffirmed the government’s resolve to “advance the welfare of its people through impactful policies and people-oriented projects.”
