The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has inaugurated an eight-member grievance redress mechanism committee, aimed at strengthening taxpayers’ confidence in the state’s revenue administration.
The state was selected as one of three pilot states for the implementation of this new tax dispute resolution initiative, alongside Kano and Jigawa States.
Head of Corporate Communications of the revenue service, Zakari Muhammad, said the initiative is coordinated by the Civil Society Legislative and Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Christian Aid, and the Tax Justice Network and Good Governance Platform (TJ&GP).
He said the inauguration of the committee was conducted by the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Comrade Jerry Adams.
The committee is chaired by the Executive Director of Revenue Operations, Dr. Muhammad Lawal, and comprises Alhaji Mahmoud Waziri, Hajiya Asama’u Mora, Mr. Richard Bature, Deborah Lucas, Alice John, Zakari Muhammad, and Maryam Zagir.

Muhammad said the committee is tasked with receiving, recording, and tracking all complaints and grievances from taxpayers and ensuring the timely resolution of all complaints.
“This is a step towards the bigger picture we envision. We aim to create a system where taxpayers can lodge their complaints and inquiries through seamless and efficient channels.
“Currently, the service has deployed an interactive voice response system across all frontline units and offices, providing 24/7 support.
“Taxpayers can also reach us via email, WhatsApp, the official website, phone calls, or by visiting our taxpayer service desk points across the state,” he said.
