A Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Amina Bello has sentenced one Zeal Abraham to two years imprisonment for internet fraud involving a $200 scam.
Abraham, who also goes by the alias Chris Mitchell, was arraigned before the court by the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count charge of impersonation and cheating. The convict was accused of defrauding one Laura Moss of $200 under the false identity of a musician on an online social media application called Zangi.
According to the EFCC, Zeal Abraham “pretended to be Chris Mitchell; a musician on ‘Zangi’, which he knew to be false,” thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Kaduna Penal Code Law of 2017 and punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
During proceedings, Abraham pleaded guilty to the charge. Prosecution counsel, M.E. Eimonye, urged the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.
