The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho has announced a reshuffling of judicial assignments aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the court system.

This decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to streamline case management and ensure the timely resolution of pending matters across various divisions.

In an official statement released by the Director of Information for the court, Catherine Christopher, on Sunday, it was revealed that Justice M. G. Umar will transition to the Abuja Division.

He will be taking over from Justice Inyang Ekwo, who previously presided over this division.

This change is particularly crucial, as Justice Umar is expected to bring fresh insights and expertise to the ongoing cases in Abuja.

The chief judge emphasized that there is no need for parties involved in ongoing cases at Court No. 5 in Abuja, to request a reassignment of judges.

Justice Umar is fully prepared to step in and address these cases without any interruptions, ensuring a seamless continuation of the judicial process.

Additionally, the restructuring includes several other notable moves among judges across different jurisdictions.

Justice Tijjani Ringim will be transferring from the Gombe Division to the Yola Division, while Justice M. T. Segun-Bello will make his move from Abakaliki to Enugu.

Meanwhile, Justice Bala Khalifa-Mohammed Usman is set to relocate from Yola to Awka, and Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed will shift from Awka to Gombe.

These changes are effective immediately, and the chief judge has urged all judges to prioritize their responsibilities and work diligently to clear any backlog of decisions in their new assignments.

The statement advised judges in the Abakaliki and Katsina Divisions to continue managing their current cases until further announcements are made.
