The Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Kwankwaso, has resigned his appointment and membership of the State Executive Council.
Kwankwaso announced his resignation in a statement made available to journalists on Monday via his Facebook page, bringing to an end his tenure in Governor Abba Yusuf’s cabinet.
In the statement, the former commissioner expressed gratitude to Gov. Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the state, noting that his time in office afforded him valuable experiences and lessons in public service.
“I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State.
“I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” he said.
While he did not disclose the specific reasons for his resignation, Kwankwaso said he was stepping aside with prayers and goodwill for the continuity of youth and sports development programmes in the state.
He urged the government to sustain its focus on the welfare and empowerment of young people, describing them as critical to the future growth and stability of Kano State.

“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve.
“I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come,” the statement added.
Kwankwaso also offered prayers for the state and its leadership, asking for divine guidance and blessings for Kano and its people.
“May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best,” he said.
His resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments within the state, which have continued to attract public attention.
