Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ghana following a devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several top officials, including two government ministers.

The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, leaving no survivors. Among the deceased were Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Boamah, and Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Mohammed, both of whom were reportedly on official duty at the time of the tragedy.

Reacting to the heartbreaking incident, Jonathan took to his verified social media platforms to express profound sorrow over the loss, describing it as a “deeply painful moment” for the West African nation. He conveyed his sympathies to President John Mahama, the bereaved families, and all Ghanaians grieving the national tragedy.

“I extend my deepest sympathies to President John Mahama, the Government of Ghana, and the families mourning this tragedy,” Jonathan wrote. “The helicopter crash took the lives of Minister Boamah, Minister Mohammed, and other dedicated individuals who served their country. Their deaths will be deeply felt by many.”

Jonathan praised the late ministers for their dedication to Ghana’s progress, emphasizing that their contributions to national development would remain a lasting legacy.

“These men gave their best in service to their nation,” he added. “Their commitment to peace, safety, and progress will not be forgotten. May God provide strength to their families and the people of Ghana during this incredibly difficult time, and may the souls of those lost find eternal peace.”

The tragic loss has sent shockwaves across West Africa, drawing condolences from leaders and citizens alike. As Ghana mourns, the outpouring of grief from international statesmen like Jonathan highlights the regional significance of the disaster and the close ties between Ghana and Nigeria.

The government of Ghana has yet to release a full official statement on the cause of the crash, but national mourning is expected in the days ahead as the country prepares to bury its fallen heroes.
