The Delta South Senator-elect, Chief Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has congratulated President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their successful inauguration ceremony at Eagle Square on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Joel-Onowakpo said today is a historic day in the lives of Nigerians who decided this great nation’s fate by embracing the Renewed Hope vision championed by the sixteenth President of Nigeria.
In a statement by the tax expert of international repute after the ceremony, President Tinubu came prepared for the arduous task associated with governing the multiethnic and complex Nigerian state and redefining the fortunes of this nation.
He applauded ex-President Muhammadu Buhari for his services rendered to Nigerians and feats recorded in various sectors. He stressed that President Tinubu’s administration would do exceptionally well to bring the prosperity of his campaign promises to Nigerians.
The Senator-elect, who is a former chairperson of the Delta Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR), underscored Tinubu’s readiness to work with Nigerians, adding that his intent to remove fuel subsidies and make his government youths and women-friendly justifies his preparedness for the task at hand.
He added that President’s inaugural speech on security, economy, job creation, agriculture, infrastructure, monetary policy, and foreign policy is laudable, noting that the present administration has a clear-cut plan to tackle the nation’s challenges.

Joel-Onowakpo, however, appealed to President Tinubu to look critically into certain peculiar senatorial districts that have yet to be addressed over time despite the revenue generated to the national coffers from the resources explored from the region, Delta South inclusive.
He noted that Delta South has a significant stake in the revenue generated into the nation’s coffers. Still, the siting of infrastructures and federal government presence must be commensurate with the district’s contribution to the national cake.
The tax expert lamented several precarious challenges affecting the people of Delta South, ranging from health hazards caused by lack of portable drinking water, and flaring of gaseous particles to environmental degradation arising from exploration activities and epileptic power supply, which the President must investigate.
Notwithstanding, Joel-Onowakpo assured the newly sworn-in Nigeria President that Delta South senatorial district is fully ready to give all their support and cooperation to ensure the adminstration delivers on their campaign promises to Nigerians.
