A disturbing incident of jealousy-fueled violence has been reported in the Jambutu area of Yola, in Adamawa State, where a 33-year-old woman, identified as Salamatu, allegedly poured hot water on her ex-husband’s fiancée, leaving her with severe injuries just months before the couple’s planned wedding.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that Salamatu, overcome with jealousy after learning of her former husband’s upcoming marriage, launched a surprise attack on the unsuspecting bride-to-be during a visit to her fiancé’s home.
The victim’s best friend, Safiya, recounted the events leading up to the attack. “We were together earlier that day before she went to see her fiancé. The next morning, I received a call informing me that she had been attacked with hot water,” she said.

He assured the public of the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that two suspects are currently in police custody in connection with the case.

According to him, he had briefly stepped out to charge his fiancée’s phone in a nearby house when the assault occurred.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects, 23-year-old Fatima Abubakar, who is a neighbor of the ex-wife, denied any involvement. In her statement to the police,
Fatima claimed she merely escorted Salamatu to the police station after the incident.
“I don’t know where she got the hot water from. I had no hand in the attack. She only came to me for help after it happened,” Fatima said.
The police have assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that all those responsible will be brought to justice.
