Sinner bounced back from his recent loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open final, claiming his third title of the season in Beijing by beating Learner Tien in the China Open.
Sinner achieved his 21st career title with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Tien.
The Italian has now lifted the trophy twice on the hard courts of Beijing, having first won it in 2023 during his tournament debut, and he is now aiming to reclaim the world number one ranking.
At 24 years old, Sinner’s only defeat on Beijing’s Diamond Court has been against his main rival, top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, who won last year’s final in a thrilling three-set match.
“This is a very, very special place for me,” said Sinner, a four-time Grand Slam champion and the top seed this week.
Alcaraz did not defend his title in China and had won the Japan Open in Tokyo the day before.
Sinner quickly established control in the first set, breaking Tien right away and dominating the 19-year-old, who was competing in his first ATP final.
“Congratulations to Jannik on a great week, another title, it was an honor to share the court with you today,” Tien remarked after the match.
The world number 52 had a rare opportunity to break in the second game of the second set, but Sinner swiftly regained control, concluding the match with 10 aces in just 1 hour and 12 minutes.
Sinner is now eyeing the number one ranking.

Tien would have made history as the lowest-ranked champion in the tournament’s history and, at 19 years and nine months, the second-youngest American Tour champion since Andy Roddick in 2002.
However, he was unable to make a significant impact despite showing glimpses of his talent.
“You have demonstrated your talent throughout the entire season,” Sinner praised Tien after the match.
Sinner’s decisive victory marks his third title this season, following wins at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
With Alcaraz withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters due to injury, Sinner may have a chance to reclaim the top ranking before the season concludes.
Alcaraz took the world number one spot from Sinner after defeating him in the US Open final on September 7. Sinner will be the top seed in Shanghai, which began this week.
