Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract with Leicester City that expires in the summer of 2024, admitting that “I feel like part of the furniture”.
The former England international said he was amazed the moment he got wind of the club’s plans to retain him.
Vardy noted when the opportunity presented itself, he never reconsidered the offer to pen a new deal with the Foxes.
“I’m obviously over the moon. Once I heard it was something the club was looking at, there was only one thing that was going to happen, and I was going to sign it,” he told LCFC TV.
“The decision was easy.
“I’ve been here long enough now that I feel like part of the furniture,” Vardy added.
The 35-year-old was among the instrumental figures whose performances catapulted Leicester City to the Premier League 8 years ago after he joined the Foxes from Fleetwood, a non-league for £1m in 2012.
Vardy has been consistent in Leicester City, scoring 164 goals in all competitions from 387 appearances.
One season he would never forget like other Foxes, 2015-2016 season, where his goal-poaching qualities saw the striker net 24 times, including 13 successive Premier League goals when the Foxes won the title to stun the world.

“I think you can see with the way we’re trying to play, the way the club’s wanting to go, that it’s going to be onwards and upwards,” Vardy continued.
“To carry on being involved with that, I was over the moon. Now it’s all about this season and finishing as high as we can.
“My legs are still feeling great so I’ll carry that on helping the club as much as I can, whether that’s scoring or assisting, that’s what I’m here to do,” he added.
Vardy has made a name for himself at Leicester City and would be ascribed as one of the club’s great. The player has in no little way contributed immensely to the success of the club which includes a quarter-final exit in Champions in the 2016-2017 season.
A victor of the Community Shield and FA Cup titles, Vardy became the oldest player to have won the Premier League Golden Boot after netting 23 goals in the 2019-2020 season.
