Alex Iwobi playfully teased his Super Eagles teammate Calvin Bassey after Fulham F.C. secured a 3–1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The lighthearted moment followed Bassey’s decisive contribution during the match, when the defender won a crucial penalty.
Bassey was pulled back inside the box while attempting to connect with a free kick, prompting a VAR review.
After checking the monitor, the referee pointed to the spot.
Fulham striker Raul Jimenez stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to extend his side’s lead, maintaining his flawless record from the spot this season.
Speaking on his YouTube podcast after the game, Iwobi jokingly mocked Bassey’s dramatic fall that led to the penalty.
“Big man like you crying like a baby,” Iwobi quipped, laughing as he recounted the incident.
Despite the banter, the Nigerian midfielder also praised Jimenez for his composure and consistency from 12 yards, highlighting the striker’s importance to the team.

Iwobi later put the result beyond doubt, sealing the victory with a composed finish at the end of a swift counterattack.
He admitted he was exhausted during the run but kept his composure to lift the ball over the goalkeeper after receiving a well-timed pass from teammate Harry.
The Super Eagles star also offered a light apology to Emile Smith Rowe for missing an earlier opportunity, blaming his “not fully warmed” left foot for the miscued effort.
With the win, Fulham climb into the top half of the Premier League table as they continue to push for a potential European qualification spot.
