It is absurd and disrespectful to draw comparisons between Fela and Wizkid, according to veteran Nigerian singer 2Face Idibia.
2face shared his thoughts during the Mic On Podcast regarding the ongoing debate that pits the Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti against contemporary superstar Wizkid, and he voiced his disapproval of such comparisons.
He labeled the comparison as “ridiculous,” emphasizing that it disrespects Fela’s legacy while also being unjust to Wizkid’s achievements.

He pointed out that juxtaposing the two artists overlooks their distinct eras, influences, and contributions to Nigerian music. While acknowledging Fela as an irreplaceable icon, he also recognized Wizkid’s significant impact in the industry. “It’s disrespectful to Fela, and at the same time unfair to Wizkid,” he stated, underscoring that both artists should be honored for their individual accomplishments.
