The widow of late Nollywood actor JohnPaul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has shared a deeply emotional account of the moment she learnt of her husband’s death.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Jennifer Odonwodo described the experience as the most devastating moment of her life, recalling how the tragic news reached her.
She revealed that on April 10, 2024, she was preparing for a photoshoot when she received a distress call informing her that the boat carrying her husband had capsized.
According to her, the news initially felt unreal, as she struggled to believe it could be true.
She recounted being driven to the scene, where she was confronted with a large crowd and, moments later, the heartbreaking confirmation of her fears.
Jennifer described seeing her husband’s lifeless body being transported, a moment she said left her in overwhelming shock and grief.
The emotional trauma, she added, took a toll on her health, with her blood pressure rising to a critical level, leading to immediate hospitalisation.

Despite the unfolding reality, she admitted she remained in denial for some time, holding on to hope until his casket was eventually brought in, marking the painful finality of his passing.
In her tribute, she remembered him as a devoted husband and father, expressing gratitude that she has continued to find strength in caring for their children and his mother.
She also acknowledged the challenges of coping with the loss but said faith has sustained her through the difficult period.
The emotional post, accompanied by videos of family moments, drew widespread sympathy online, with many offering condolences and words of support.
Junior Pope died alongside other crew members on April 10, 2024, after a boat accident while returning from a movie location, a tragedy that sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry.
