Hon. Friday Warri, Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, yesterday bagged the prestigious ‘Public Service Award’ from The Pointer Newspaper during its 30th anniversary celebration in Asaba, themed ‘Honouring Truth and Unity Through Excellence in Public Communication’.
At the well-attended ceremony in Asaba, the state capital, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori accepted The Pointer’s ‘Exemplary Democrat and Transformational Leadership Award’ and underscored the crucial role of media in fostering accountability and transparency among political leaders, as mandated by the Constitution, through fact-driven and responsible reporting.
He urged journalists to downplay news that aggravate religious and ethnic fault in the country for the sake of enduring peace and sustainable national development

On his part, Hon. Warri Ovoke upon receiving the award expressed gratitude and pledged that the accolade is a tribute to his late mother and the good people of Isoko South, whom he considers as honor to serve as their chief citizen.
“I extend my gratitude to The Pointer Newspaper’s Management for this esteemed recognition. Upon assuming office, I prioritized executing our five-point agenda, leveraging local networks to support Isoko South’s projects and programs, and I am delighted that our efforts are being acknowledged.”
