The second edition of the Isoko Nation Unity Table Tennis Tournament has been officially unveiled, with the initiator, Comr. (Dr.) Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, addressing a world press conference recently at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Oleh, Isoko South, Delta State.
With the theme “Uniting Isoko Youths Through Sports for Peace and Development – The Tennissing Dimension”, the tournament is designed to promote unity among the 23 clans of Isoko Nation while nurturing young table tennis talents capable of competing at national and international levels.
Dr. Palmer disclosed that over 30 brand-new table tennis boards have been acquired and will be distributed across communities, adding that selected players from last year’s edition will receive professional spin bats to enhance their training.
He further announced that the main tournament will hold on Friday, November 7, 2025, with a total of ₦10 million in prize money at stake. In his breakdown of the prizes, he said the First Position will go home with the sum of three million naira while the second and third position will grab two million naira and one million naira respectively.
He explained further that every player who qualified for the competition will get consolation prizes while in addition, exhibition matches for professional players will feature cash prizes ranging between fifty thousand naira to five hundred thousand naira.

The event, organized in honour of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori JP, Governor of Delta State, will also spotlight the Governor’s achievements in Isoko Nation. Among highlighted projects are the Emevor–Orogun Road construction (Phase 1), the rehabilitation of Ellu/Aradhe Road, and the Uruoede Internal Roads project in Ofagbe, with over 80 projects credited to his administration in Isoko within the past two years.
Dr. Palmer expressed gratitude to dignitaries who supported the maiden edition, including High Chief Hon. Enahoro Eta, Elder Jerusalem Onokeno, Rt. Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Hon. Chief sir Ferguson Onwo, Hon. Bernard Odior, Hon. Friday Warri, Hon. Elder Godwin Ogorugba, Chief Kome Okpobor, Chief Emmumena Sada, Hon. Joseph Onojaeme, Hon. Emakpor Odogwu, Chief Iduh Amadhe, and sports administrators such as Mr. Sylvanus Emeka Nwachukwu and Hon. Abonti Snow.
He assured that lessons from last year’s challenges have been taken into account to deliver a “bigger, better, and more rewarding” tournament this year.
