Drone strikes launched from Iran have hit the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, the United Arab Emirates’ largest oil storage and export hub, triggering a fire at the strategic energy facility on Monday.
Authorities in the UAE confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident. Officials said emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site to contain the fire and secure the affected area.
The targeted facility, known as the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, is located in Fujairah on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates. Unlike many Gulf ports, Fujairah sits on the Gulf of Oman rather than the Persian Gulf. This strategic location allows vessels to access the port without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints.

Before the current conflict escalated, the UAE produced more than 3.4 million barrels of crude oil per day. The country also operates a major pipeline capable of transporting about 1.5 million barrels of crude daily, allowing some exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
Energy analysts warn that any prolonged disruption at Fujairah could affect regional oil flows. With the narrow sea passage near Hormuz already facing restrictions due to rising tensions, damage to the port could force the UAE to scale back production if export routes are significantly affected.
Although Iranian authorities have repeatedly stated that their military operations are aimed at United States bases in the region and not neighbouring states, drone attacks have continued to target Gulf transportation and oil infrastructure.
In a separate incident hours later, Dubai International Airport in Dubai was also affected by what officials described as a drone-related event. Flights were temporarily suspended after a fire broke out near the airport before emergency teams brought the situation under control.
Officials say Iran has launched more than 1,900 missiles and drones toward the UAE since hostilities began last month between the United States, Israel and Iran, raising fears of wider disruption across the Gulf region.
