The Nigeria Police Force for improved efficiency and service delivery, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate posting of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 18 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to key offices across the country.
The redeployment, announced on Thursday, is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the force and enhance its operational effectiveness, according to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
He explained that the newly posted AIGs will assume leadership roles in various strategic zones and departments.
Among the notable postings are AIG Margaret Ochalla, who has been assigned to head the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, and AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo, who will oversee Zone 13 in Ukpo. Other postings include AIG Fred Ekokotu to Zone 11 in Osogbo, AIG Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka to the Border Patrol Force at Force Headquarters in Abuja, and AIG Garba Ahmed to the Department of Training and Development (DTD) in Abuja.
Additionally, AIG Salman Dogo has been posted to Zone 5 in Benin, while AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu will take charge of Zone 9 in Umuahia. These appointments are expected to bolster the force’s capacity to address security challenges and improve service delivery nationwide.
The statement also revealed that 18 CPs, who are acting in the capacity of AIGs pending approval from the Police Service Commission (PSC), have been assigned to critical offices. Among them are CP Patrick Adedeji Atayero, who has been posted as Commandant of the Police Academy in Kano, and CP Tolani Alausa, who will head Zone 16 in Yenagoa. Other postings include CP Musibau Ajani to Zone 17 in Akure, CP Mobolaji Victor Olaiya to the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) in Abuja, and CP Laolu Adegbite to Interpol at Force Headquarters.

Other CPs affected by the redeployment include CP Clement Robert, who will oversee Community Policing, Research & Planning in Abuja; CP Gyongon Augustine Grimah, assigned to Zone 10 in Sokoto; and CP Thomas Abraham Nabhon, who will serve at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). CP Musa Auwal Mohammed has been posted to Zone 3 in Yola, while CP Mohammed Shehu Dalijan will head the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) in Abuja. CP Olatunji Disu will take charge of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Abuja, and CP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu will oversee Zone 12 in Bauchi.
The IGP charged the newly posted officers to embrace their roles with dedication and professionalism. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering exemplary service and contributing to the ongoing reforms within the force. “The IGP encourages the new senior officers to ensure strict supervision and diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and to key into the ongoing police reform agenda,” the statement read.
The redeployment is part of broader efforts to revitalize the Nigeria Police Force and enhance its capacity to address emerging security challenges. The IGP expressed confidence that the strategic postings would significantly improve security and service delivery across the nation.
