The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is participating in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) quarterly consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja.
Wike attended the meeting alongside the PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
The meeting, which is taking place at INEC’s headquarters, also has in attendance the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as well as leaders of other registered political parties.
A video sighted by journalists showed that INEC assigned official seating positions to the Wike-led PDP delegation, with Mohammed seated in the chair designated for the “PDP National Chairman,” while Anyanwu occupied the seat marked for the “PDP National Secretary.”
The development follows a judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Ibadan on January 30, which nullified the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025.

Justice Uche Agomoh, who presided over the case, barred members of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Tanimu Turaki from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
The court held that the November convention was conducted in violation of subsisting court orders, stressing that the PDP could not disregard judicial directives while seeking legal backing for actions taken in defiance of the law.
Justice Agomoh further ruled that the party should be run by a caretaker committee pending the conduct of a valid national convention.
The Turaki-led faction had earlier approached the court seeking recognition of the Ibadan convention and validation of the NWC members elected at the event.
Following the court ruling and INEC’s apparent recognition, the Wike-led faction now appears to have assumed control of the party’s national structure.
Wike is a former governor of Rivers State and one of the most influential ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
