The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the name of Chief George Moghalu as the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, solidifying his place on the ballot.

This announcement marks a significant milestone for the LP, as it also reaffirms the party’s leadership under Julius Abure as legitimately recognised by INEC.

The decision by the electoral body quells recent speculation about internal disputes and underscores the party’s readiness for the upcoming polls.

Chief Moghalu’s emergence is being celebrated across political circles and among Labour Party supporters, who see his candidacy as a turning point for Anambra’s political landscape.

Widely regarded for his leadership experience and public service record, expectations are high for what his potential administration could bring to the state.

LP supporters have congratulated Moghalu, and the entire Labour Party team, praising their resilience and strategic vision in securing this victory.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, will work with the party to deliver Chief Moghalu as Anambra State governor following the leadership tussle in the party.
