The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of results from Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections to its result viewing (IReV) portal.
The elections were held across the six area councils of the FCT, with a total of 68 positions contested, comprising six chairmanship seats and 62 councillorship seats.
As of 7:35pm on Saturday, checks on the IReV portal showed that results from several polling units had been uploaded across the councils.
In the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), 847 results had been uploaded out of 1,401 polling units.
Kwali Area Council had 75 results uploaded out of 201 polling units, while Kuje recorded 115 uploads from 262 units.
In Gwagwalada, 204 results had been reflected on the portal out of 338 polling units.
Bwari Area Council showed 255 results uploaded from 485 polling units, while Abaji had 42 results available out of 135 polling units.
Earlier, results had begun to trickle in following the conclusion of voting in most polling units by the afternoon, paving the way for sorting and counting of ballots.
INEC is conducting elections for six area council chairmen and 62 councillors across 2,822 polling units in the FCT, with over 1.6 million registered voters expected to participate in the exercise.
The commission had assured residents of a transparent process, stating that results would be uploaded to the IReV portal in line with its guidelines.
