The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the country’s resilience, unity and collective sacrifices.
In a goodwill message signed by its Convener, Chief Jacob Edi, the group commended citizens for their perseverance in the face of national challenges, noting that Nigeria’s survival over six and a half decades was anchored on the people’s commitment to peace, progress and unity.
Also, the NNMG paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers as well as past and present leaders for their roles in shaping the country’s nationhood.
“Their sacrifices, as well as the everyday sacrifices of our citizens, continue to be the cornerstone of Nigeria’s endurance,” the statement read.

The group particularly hailed President Tinubu, saying his policy choices and boldness in addressing critical national issues demonstrate his commitment to the stability and long-term survival of the country.
“The courage and vision of President Tinubu signpost his resolve to place Nigeria’s progress above political considerations,” the NNMG added.
While acknowledging Nigeria’s diversity as a source of strength, the group called on citizens to renew their faith in the Nigerian project and work together to achieve the aspirations of the country’s founding fathers.
“As we celebrate 65 years of independence, we must not forget that what has held us together is far greater than the forces that seek to divide us,” Edi said.
The group urged Nigerians to remain purposeful, stand united, and continue to pursue a brighter and more prosperous future for the nation.
