As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has granted state pardon to six inmates serving various sentences in correctional facilities across the state.
The governor said the decision was in line with his constitutional powers and based on the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
He noted that the inmates had shown genuine remorse and demonstrated good conduct over time.
“In the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the constitution, and in line with the advice of the advisory council, I have granted pardon to six persons who have served various jail terms and shown significant improvement in behaviour,” Gov. Fintiri stated.
