• IGP assures firmer synergy with other security agencies

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered massive nationwide deployment of Police officers, especially intelligence operatives, traffic officers and other operational assets of the Force for Sallah celebration and beyond.

The IGP equally orders that adequate priority be accorded to Eid prayer grounds, highways, recreational centres, and financial institutions especially ATM and POS points, to safeguard religious celebrations and financial transactions during the festival.

A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Sunday said the IGP’s order to Strategic Police Managers at various levels is predicated on the need to maintain a more secured public and social space for the celebration.

“He further directs that all men deployed must be properly briefed and adequately supervised to ensure they maintain high level of proactiveness, visibility patrols and professionalism in the discharge of policing services to all and sundry.

“The IGP equally tasks all State Commissioners of Police and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to ensure that crime and criminality is put in check and brought to its lowest ebb for a hitch free celebration.

“The Inspector-General of Police, on behalf of the Force Management Team, and the entire workforce of the Nigeria Police Force felicitates with all Muslim faithful in the country as they join the global Muslim Ummah to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr,” he stated.

In another development, Baba has expressed readiness to work more closely with other security agencies in the country.

IGP Baba made the pledge when he received the Chief of Defence Staff, General LEO Irabor recently at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Friday said the CDS commended IGP Baba for his excellent performance.

He said, “The Chief of Defence Staff, General LEO Irabor has pronounced and reaffirmed that IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, has performed credibly during his one year in office as the 21st Indigenous Inspector-General of Police.

“The Chief of Defence Staff, who made the declaration at the Police Force Headquarters, during his visit on 28th April, 2022, noted that the call was necessitated by the quest to escalate synergy between security agencies in Nigeria.

“While extolling the role of the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces and other security agencies in ensuring security and peace within the country, he gave kudos to the IGP and the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, for their credible performance recorded so far. ”

Adejobi said the visit of the CDS was described by the IGP as “historic”. He added that the Police will carry out its mandatory of maintaining and enforcing law under his leadership.

“The Inspector-General of Police described as historic, the visit of the Chief of Defence Staff. He assured of the Force’s readiness to strengthen partnerships with other security agencies in securing the country.

“Furthermore, the IGP stated that the Police under his leadership is poised to carry out its core mandate of maintaining and enforcing law, order and public safety, as well as other constitutional mandates such as the involvement in military duties as may be directed by the President. The police has been actively involved in such operations in the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and other parts of the country.

“The highlight of the visit was a tour of some critical facilities within the Force Headquarters, such as the Police Hall of Fame, Police Museum, Technical Intelligence Unit lab, the National Command and Control Centre (NPF-C4i), ad the Police Crime and Data Centre, amongst others,” Adejobi said.
