Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has promised construct more roads will link communities together.
The Governor who made this pledge last Thursday during the inauguration of the recently constructed 4.5km Igbedi Community road in Kolokuma/Opokuma Council by his Oyo state counter, Seyi Makinde, described the project as “historic”, being the only community in the local government that was hitherto not connected by road.
He commended the Igbedi people for owning the project and protecting it, just as he urged other communities to emulate them.
While expressing gratitude to Makinde for honouring the event which was part of activities marking his administration second anniversary, Diri also commended the construction company, Paache Limited for the
timely delivery of the project despite the challenges it encountered.

His words: “Today is a historic day for Igbedi community, KOLGA and the state. Igbedi was part of the communities that contributed land to build the airport. While other communities have been accessible by road, Igbedi was looking up to this day and God has brought it to pass.
Earlier, Makinde lauded Diri’s performance in his two years in office, noting that roads were crucial to the development of any society, adding that,” it was the first time a road was linking the community to the rest of the world since its existence in about 500 years”.
Makinde assured that the project would boost the economy of the people and usher in development.
Also, Commissioner for Works, Moses Teibowei said the conceptualisation and completion of the road was borne out of Diri’s desire to develop the state.
Representative of Kolokuma/ Opokuma Constituency II in the House of Assembly, Wisdom Fafi, and Commissioner for Environment, Iselema Gbaranbiri, commended the governor for the project, adding that the Igbedi people would forever be grateful to him.
