The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a clean, credible, and fully transparent process as it commenced the 2025 Asset Disposal Exercise in Abuja.

At the official bid-opening ceremony held Thursday at the Commission’s headquarters, ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu—represented by the Director of Systems Study and Review, Mr. Olusegun Adigun—said the Commission would conduct the exercise strictly by the book, with integrity, merit, and due process at its core.

He stressed that the Commission’s reputation rests heavily on the transparency of its operations, adding that every recovered asset must serve the best interests of Nigerians, according to a statement signed by Demola Bakare, Director of Public Enlightenment and Education and spokesperson for the Commission.

“As an institution, the ICPC remains resolute in ensuring that every kobo recovered on behalf of the Nigerian people is properly managed, transparently utilized, and ultimately channeled toward national development,” Dr. Aliyu said.

He assured that submissions by auctioneers would be evaluated without favoritism, in line with set criteria and global anti-corruption standards.

Director of the Proceeds of Crimes Department, Mrs. Grace Aga-Ibe, reinforced the Chairman’s message, noting that the Commission was determined to maintain fairness at every stage of the exercise.

In a show of confidence in the process, Executive Director of the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI), Mr. Umar Yakubu, hailed ICPC’s adherence to transparency, describing the exercise as consistent with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

Auctioneers in attendance also commended the Commission’s openness, even as officials reminded them that only firms meeting the stipulated requirements would advance to the next stage.

Representatives of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) witnessed the event.

The ICPC had in October announced the recovery outcomes of its 2024 Asset Disposal Exercise, part of its broader drive to ensure recovered assets are deployed for national good.
