The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) is investigating Rep. Ndudi Elumelu, who represented Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over allegations of fraudulent diversion of government projects.

Sources within the anti-graft agency revealed that Elumelu, is accused of diverting constituency projects and converting them to personal use during his tenure.

As part of the ongoing probe, the ICPC has sealed his multi-million-naira office building in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Investigations revealed that the property, identified as the “Asaba Massacre Monument Center,” was a constituency project allegedly facilitated by Elumelu, but unlawfully converted for his private use.

The project was reportedly executed by the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, Enugu State.

When contacted, ICPC spokesman, Demola Bakare confirmed the investigation, stating that the project was tracked under the ohase 7 constituency and executive projects tracking initiative.

“The project has not been officially handed over to the government after completion, prompting the need for further investigation,” Bakare said.

This development comes as the ICPC continues its crackdown on constituency project mismanagement, even as the anti-corruption agency has uncovered and recovered N30 billion worth of diverted funds and items listed in the budget between December 2023 and December 2024.

Elumelu, who first entered the House of Representatives in 2007, served as chairman of the House Committees on Power and Health during his tenure.

Senator Ibrahim Lamido dumps APC, blames insecurity, economic hardship By Paul Joseph A serving senator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship in his constituency. The lawmaker announced his decision on his official X platform, stating that his resignation takes immediate effect. He explained that the move followed what he described as the party’s inability to adequately protect lives and support livelihoods across Sokoto East. Lamido raised serious concerns over the surge in bandit attacks in the region, noting that several communities have been overrun, with villages destroyed, residents displaced, and local economies severely disrupted. He said repeated appeals for urgent government intervention had failed to produce meaningful results. The senator stressed that his decision was not driven by political ambition but by the need to stand with his constituents during a period of deep crisis. He added that consultations with community leaders and political associates shaped his final decision to exit the ruling party. While he did not immediately announce his next political destination, Lamido hinted that he would align with a platform that prioritises security, grassroots development, and the welfare of citizens. He also called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts against banditry, warning that continued inaction could worsen the humanitarian situation across northern Nigeria. The development adds to growing political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections, as security concerns and economic pressures continue to influence alignments within Nigeria’s political landscape.
