Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has unveiled an initiative aimed at transforming the lives of underprivileged youth in Delta State. The Otemu Educational Foundation (OEF), announced via a letter posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, seeks to provide scholarships and resources for talented but indigent students in the state.
Chief Ibori, in his announcement, emphasized the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering development.
“It is with great pride and a profound sense of purpose that I introduce the Otemu Educational Foundation (OEF). This initiative was born from a deep-seated belief in the power of education and a commitment to uplifting indigent but incredibly talented youth in Delta State, Nigeria,” he stated.
The former governor explained that the foundation is dedicated to reshaping the educational landscape for underprivileged students, ensuring they have the financial support to pursue their academic dreams.
Ibori revealed that the foundation is in the process of creating a world-class, digitally-driven system for pre-selection and candidate profiling. This system will ensure that only students who are exceptional in both character and learning benefit from the program.
“A dedicated web portal will soon be launched to kickstart our application season, making the process seamless and transparent,” he added.
The OEF’s mission goes beyond providing scholarships. According to Ibori, the initiative aims to nurture future leaders who will drive positive change in their communities and beyond.

“By investing in these bright young minds, we are fostering individual growth while empowering future leaders who will make meaningful contributions to society,” he explained.
Chief Ibori extended an invitation to communities, partners, and donors to join in supporting the initiative, describing it as a journey of empowerment and transformation.
“We believe education is the cornerstone of progress and development. Our goal is to ensure every student, regardless of socio-economic background, has access to quality education and the resources needed to succeed. Together, we can create a brighter and more equitable future for all,” Ibori said.
